The National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications Pro Board awarded the Chief V. The program was cited for delivering the highest quality fire and emergency services training, emulating the dedication exhibited by Chief Elmore while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

The DoD Firefighter Certification Program is managed by the Air Force Civil Engineer Center located at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and is available to all eligible DoD firefighters and emergency responders around the world. The DoD program manages 81 certification levels, which includes an interactive online training program containing 39 firefighter certification levels and 11 non-certification training courses. The team awards 45,000 certifications annually.
