A client asked us if we could help them automate the evaluation of professional essays authored by their staff. The time-consuming and repetitive nature of manually assessing these essays hindered their efficiency. They sought a solution to streamline this process while upholding human-like accuracy.

Our Innovative Solution

APV developed a proof-of-concept solution – “Intelligent Essay Grader” leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning models to secure, scale, and effectively evaluate every essay submitted by users or administrators within a customized, cloud agnostic environment hosted within Government’s virtual private cloud and ensuring all data is private and protected.

To enhance accuracy, we trained our solution by feeding it a broad dataset of historical essays. Our primary objective was to achieve an accuracy level of 85% or higher. Next, we conducted a rigorous comparison between essays graded by our AI system and human experts. By analyzing multiple samples and ensuring consistent results, we verified that the AI model’s assessments aligned with human evaluations, achieving a satisfactory level of accuracy.

To streamline the essay submission process, we also created a user-friendly web interface for browsers and making it accessible to both administrators and writers. The AI system meticulously graded each essay and maintained a detailed historical record. The data can be shared with writers or stored for administrative use, as per the client's preference.

The grading process undergoes continuous refinement by automatically adapting as it processes, and the volume of essays increases. Expert intervention further enhances the AI system by ensuring consistent improvement in accuracy.
